Select designs from this year’s Charrette workshop are being exhibited during the 2019 Maker Faire Rochester. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at Joseph A. Floreano Riverside Convention Center (123 E. Main St., Rochester, N.Y. 14604).The Charrette is an annual weeklong assignment that challenges students in Foundations classes to get creative in their use of material as they follow a prompt to make wearable sculpture. The designs are then showcased at a final event, where judging for awards and inclusion in a Bevier Gallery exhibition occurs. This year, students based their works on a Radiolab episode called “Stochasticity,” which examines chance, randomness and patterns. Maker Faire events, held all over the world, provide a venue for engineers, artists, scientists and more to showcase their creativity, innovation, experiments and projects. Tickets for Maker Faire Rochester can be purchased here.
