Poverty, Inc. Documentary Screening & Panel Discussion

The Global Health Association @ RIT in cooperation with Udicci is hosting a big event on October 26th from 6-9 in the Golisano Auditorium. We will be screening the award winning documentary Poverty, Inc. followed my a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Jim Myers, Associate Provost for International Education and Global Programs and including the following panelists:​​Dr. Bill Destler, Former RIT President Dr. Zhi Tang, Associate Professor, Saunders College of Business Dr. Rashid Muhammad, Director of Operations, Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative  Sarah Brownell, Lecturer, Kate Gleason College of Engineering Dr. John Oliphant, Assistant Professor, College of Health Sciences and Technology Chuck Livecchi, Partner, UdicciThe Poverty, Inc. documentary has won over 60 international film festival awards and focuses on how aid to low resource countries and people groups has become a big business, but little seems to change for the intended beneficiaries of this aid. A close look is taken at the flaws in the aid system and how true change can only come through creating programs based on empowerment, education, training, and asset-based development. The event is free and open to the RIT community and the general public.
