RIT’s School of Art is presenting a public lecture with John Massier and Rebecca Wing from Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center in Buffalo, N.Y. Massier is the curator for the visual arts program at Hallwalls while Wing is the art education coordinator.
They will be conducting studio visits with studio arts students on Thursday, March 21, and giving a public talk on the same day at 5 p.m. in Booth Hall, room 2490.
Hallwalls was founded on Buffalo's West Side in late 1974 by a group of young visual artists, including Diane Bertolo, Charles Clough, Nancy Dwyer, Robert Longo, Larry (LP) Lundy, Cindy Sherman and Michael Zwack. Hallwalls soon established itself as an influential force for innovation within the community as well as nationally, and has cemented itself as an iconic institution in contemporary art.
