Golisano College Dean's Lecture Series presents Brett Williams, Major General USAF (Retired)
Please join us as we present Golisano College Dean’s Lecture Series speaker Brett Williams, Major General USAF (Retired), co-founder and chief operating officer of IronNet Cybersecurity on Tuesday, April 2nd, 3:30–4:30 p.m., in GOL Auditorium! He will speak on “Defending the Nation in Cyberspace.” This lecture is hosted in collaboration with the Computing Security Department.Speaker BioBrett Williams, Major General USAF (Retired), is co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of IronNet Cybersecurity. IronNet sells an advanced cyber detection product that leverages behavioral analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning to protect individual companies, business sectors and national governments. Brett is a retired Major General, U.S. Air Force. In his last active duty assignment, he was the Director of Operations for U.S. Cyber Command. In that role, he was responsible for operations and defense of Department of Defense networks, as well as the planning and execution of authorized offensive cyber operations in support of national security objectives. Brett is also a highly experienced fighter pilot with more than 100 combat missions flown in the F-15C.AbstractIn this lecture, Major General (Retired) Brett Williams will discuss the strategic and tactical implications of defending the nation in cyberspace. He will review the threats posed to the U.S. at the nation-state level, discuss the potential costs of a successful attack, and outline current defensive approaches and why they fail.
