Location: GIS Auditorium (building 81/SUS, room 1130)Inspired by the urban waterscapes of friend and mentor Herbert Dreiseitl, James Wasley will share case studies of several ecologically active, chemical-free water features in Europe and North America, including his own work on Milwaukee's Inner Harbor. In anticipation of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, the talk will also use this theme of water to introduce various streams of thought that have informed architectural discourse over the last fifty years and are arguably converging to define a contemporary philosophy of ecological design.Speaker: Professor James Wasley AIA, LEED-AP Professor Wasley is a director of the Institute for Ecological Design at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His current research is in the creation of ecological urban waterscapes, dedicated to creating positive visions of economic redevelopment and ecological restoration of underutilized post-industrial brownfields, and other urban sites.
