Description: Making Your Career in Semiconductors
...A Reality Check!
It seems like the semiconductor industry is hitting a wall!
...the Technology wall: a limit to CMOS scaling seems firmly in sight, spelling the end of Moore’s law.
...the Financial wall: posed by the constantly shrinking price of consumer electronics leading to disappearing profit margins and massive consolidation in the semiconductor space.
What do these trends mean for new entrants into the industry? Is everything going to move to Asian low-cost centers? Is there a career for engineers in the developed world? What are the skills needed to succeed in such a career?
This presentation will explore popular myths and associated realities about building a career in semiconductors in the next decade and offer some ideas on what the Engineer of 2020 will need to succeed.
