Design Conversations Lecture: Architect Andrea Ponsi

The Vignelli Center for Design Studies is hosting architect, designer, painter and author Andrea Ponsi for a Design Conversations lecture at RIT. The talk is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, in University Gallery (Booth Hall, second floor). Based on the Ponsi’s books Analogy and Design and Drawing Analogies, the lecture presents a drawing method for moving directly from the study of a precedent to a design proposal based on ideas derived from that precedent. Born in 1949 in Viareggio, Italy, Ponsi’s work has been published in books and international magazines (including Domus, Interni, Casabella and Wallpaper) and also been the subject of solo and group exhibits around the world. Along with completing several commercial and residential buildings, Ponsi has designed and self-produced objects, furniture and exhibiting systems. Currently, he works both in Italy and the U.S.
