Charles Arnold Lecture Series: Kristen Gresh

Kristen Gresh is the Estrellita and Yousuf Karsh Curator of Photographs at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA). She is a curator, researcher, and lecturer in the field of photography and digital media. Gresh is the author of the award-winning book, She Who Tells a Story: Women Photographers from Iran and the Arab World. A historian and an educator as well, Gresh has taught history of photography at the Ecole du Louvre, Wells College in Paris and at the American University of Cairo. Prior to working at the MFA, she was also the curator of 20th century photography collections in both Paris and Cairo. She has received multiple grants and awards for her research and publications including a Magnum Foundation Legacy Grant, Terra Foundation Grant, Rockefeller Grant, Fulbright Award and the IndieFab Foreword’s Book of the Year awards “Nonfiction Editor’s Choice Prize 2013.” She has a PhD in the History of Photography from the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences in Paris and has also published articles in publications such as Etudes Photographiques and History of Photography.
