Saunders Networking Event

Open to Saunders College of Business Students Years 3,4 and Masters StudentsNetwork with local, regional and national employers. Get a head start by making a good first impression with Fall Career Fair Recruiters! What should I expect? What is the format? Each of the Saunders student clubs will have the option to set up tables in the reception area to represent their clubs. The tables will be staffed by 1-2 club members, as designated by their group. The rest of the students will participate in casual networking in the main lobby area. Employer representatives will be clearly identified with Employer Ribbons and students can engage in a more lengthy conversation than what might be possible at the Career Fair. All of the employers that registered for this reception have an explicit interest in talking to business students. Work the room in a professional manner and be sure to familiarize yourself with the list of companies that are registered to attend. This is not a career fair, so please do not form long lines in front of the employers. What should I wear? Each student participant is expected to dress professionally. Remember, you are representing Saunders College of Business, your Major program and yourselves, so dress to impress! Acceptable attire includes:For Men- Suit with button-down shirt, tie and dress shoes OR Nice dress pants with button-down shirt, tie and dress shoesFor Women- Pant or skirt suit with blouse or button-down shirt and dress shoes; Dress slacks, button down shirt and dress shoes; dresses or skirts of appropriate length with stockings. What should I bring with me?Be sure to bring plenty of copies of your resume. You can also bring any relevant samples of your work or academic projects that you think may be of interest to employers. A pad-folio would be a good idea too so that you can collect business cards in one place and jot down any notes you may want to take for reference later. How do I approach the employers and what should I say?The employers are here seeking talent that they can recruit for co-op or full-time permanent positions. This is your opportunity to use your 60-second commercial. This is a networking event and we expect quite a few business students to attend and over thirty employers. Use your time wisely; don’t waste it. Focus on what makes you unique in your program, or demonstrate that you have done your research and talk about what is so appealing to you about that particular company and how you can benefit the organization.
