National Depression Screening Day
On Wednesday, October 10, 2017, Counseling & Psychological Services will be hosting mental health screening for National Depression Screening Day to increase awareness and encourage early intervention for mood and anxiety disorders. National Depression Screening Day is an annual campaign to bring public attention to the critical needs of students living with depression and other mental health disorders. This year, due to increasing student interest and demand, we will be hosting an all-day screening event held in the Fireside Lounge from 9 am to 3 pm on Wednesday, October 10th.The anonymous and confidential screening tool is designed to help students examine any thoughts or behaviors that may be associated with depression, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, or posttraumatic stress disorder. After completing the self-assessment, students will be able to talk to a mental health professional for a free and confidential consultation and receive information about services available at RIT. Sustainable academic and professional success requires on-going attention to our health and well-being. “Our goals for this event are to give students a reminder to take a moment to evaluate their current well-being and connect them with quality resource options early on,” said Dr. David Reetz, Director of Counseling and Psychological Services.
