The Goudy Award for Typographic Excellence honors Claire Van Vliet

Please join RIT Cary Graphic Arts Collection & School of Media Sciences as we honor Claire Van Vliet with the Frederic W. Goudy Award for Excellence in Typography.Thursday, November 2, 2017, 6 to 8 p.m. Golisano Hall Auditorium, first floor B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information SciencesVan Vliet's talk, "Janus Press: A Survey 1955-" will be an illustrated overview of the history of the press, choosing six books from each of its six decades and looking at what is happening now in its seventh decade. Claire Van Vliet is the founder and proprietor of the Janus Press. She is the recipient of a MacArthur Foundation Prize Fellowship, and honorary Doctorates of Fine Arts from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and San Diego State University. Her work has been exhibited in institutions such as the Grolier Club in New York, the Library of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the San Francisco Center for the Book.Refreshments to follow.
