Dr. Katie Witkiewitz lecture

Dr. Katie Witkiewitz, Professor of Psychology at the University of New Mexico, will lecture on “Person Centered and Harm Reduction Approaches to the Treatment of Alcohol Use Disorder”. The underlying theme of her research is the development of empirically-based models of addiction, with an emphasis on applying advanced quantitative research methods to better understand changes in addictive behavior over time. Dr. Witkiewitzis also a licensed clinical psychologist and has worked extensively on the development of a theoretical model of biopsychosocial influences on alcohol and drug relapse. She has conducted numerous empirical studies on the prediction of alcohol and drug relapse, mechanisms of successful alcohol treatment outcomes, as well as the development of interventions to treat addiction. To date, Dr. Witkiewitzhas authored 5 books and over 165 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and she has given over 75 presentations and invited talks.
