Join the Center for Engaged Storycraft and guest faculty speakers Associate Professors - Meredith Davenport (Photographic Arts & Sciences) and Conerly Casey (Sociology and Anthropology) - for a screening of Joshua Oppenheimer’s documentary, The Act of Killing, this coming Monday evening, February 25th at 5:00 p.m. in the Wegman’s Auditorium in the new Magic Spell Studios. We will have light snacks and beverages on hand before and after the screening. Film is captioned and interpreters are available on request. Our faculty will introduce the film, provide post-screening contextualization of its concerns, and lead a discussion about the difficult and important subjects it addresses. [Warning: Joshua Oppenheimer’s The Act of Killing films killers as they boastfully remember and dramatize the 1965-66 massacres of people they deemed "Communists."  This investigative technique and the killers' explicit re-enactments of sexual and physical violence may evoke strong emotions and traumatic remembrances of violence.]
