2017 Fram Chair Signature Lecture with Dr. Ann Quiroz Gates

Technology and computational thinking are woven into the fabric of our lives, increasing the complexity of the problems we are asked to solve and presenting each of us with an opportunity to change the world as never before. In order to succeed, it is no longer enough to complete the courses required to earn a degree in a discipline.  Organizations value individuals who possess technical skills and can also contribute to the diversity of thought, shaped by interdisciplinary work and one’s own life and cultural experiences. Join me for a talk that will discuss how to strategically think about and weave together your passions, uniqueness, and technological skills to create the impact you desire.  I will also examine the curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities that can contribute to success and marketability.  The talk will end with a discussion on how to critically think about the broad challenges we face, and how to sell yourself and your ideas.
